Need Accommodation Solutions:  Ask JAN focus on Learning Disabilities (LD) & Intellectual Disabilities (ID)​

​The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) is a free consulting service funded by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) and a leading source of free, expert, and confidential guidance on workplace accommodations and disability employment issues. JAN has a long-standing relationship with Job Corps, providing information on tools and techniques that help people with disabilities get and keep jobs and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and related laws. In this presentation, JAN will assist in identifying accommodations for various functional limitations related to Learning Disabilities and Intellectual Disabilities, and discovering real-life accommodation solutions using the JAN web resources.

​​Getting to Know Bookshare​ ​This webinar is designed to introduce Job Corps staff to Bookshare, a free ebook resource with assistive technology tools, designed to remove barriers for eligible students with print disabilities.   A Job Corps specific eBook library will be discussed, and ideas will be generated on how to access and add to the library​.
Bookshare and Job Corps​ This webinar will review the benefits of a free Bookshare partnership providing reader technology, over 180,000 books and the ability to digitize textbooks for students with print/reading disabilities. Participants will be shown how to set-up and utilize Bookshare's reading tools, searching, downloading and managing membership on a Job Corps center.
Bookshare: Let Reading Come Alive Join Bookshare the world’s largest online library of accessible books for a presentation and demo where you will learn more about the program.   Bookshare is free for Job Corps students with IEPs or 504-plans who could benefit from audio textbooks.
Partnerships Partnerships allow center staff to enhance the services and resources provided to students with disabilities and ensure that students will also be provided support and services after Job Corps.  Many centers have developed very effective partnerships as part of their disability program.  This webinar will provide resources that will get you thinking about how to develop and sustain such partnerships for your center.
Working with your Charter School or Public School Partner to Improve Services for Students with Disabilities​ The presenters will share information on how to establish a good working relationship with your public school or charter school partner that will maximize support services for student with disabilities.  These resources/services may include: funding resources, material and assistive technology acquisition, the administration of assessments, participation on the reasonable accommodation committee, and assistance with accommodation suggestions.
